Figure Drawing Intro Class

Tuesday evenings  6:30pm-9:30pm, 8 sessions

June 20th – August 22nd (*no class  7/4 and 8/8)

Instructor: Jim Bak

tuition: $395

Figure drawing is a broad subject that requires a lifetime to master, but learning a few key principles can greatly enhance an artist’s progress.

In this class, we will explore the concepts of Gesture, Shape Language, and Structure through the use of Master Studies, Cast Studies, and Live Model drawing.

Over the course of 8 weeks, we will analyze different areas of the figure, and break down how the discrete, specific shapes of each area relate to each other and to other areas of the body. We will also consider how these shapes are affected by gender, body types, different motions or poses.

About the instructor:

Jim Bak lives and works in Berkeley, California.  He holds a BFA from the Academy of Art University and has taught for over a decade in institutions throughout the Bay Area including Berkeley City College, the Academy, and the Art Institute.
